Collisions

Collisions are a behavior that Simetrik exhibits when you include tolerance ranges in your match keys or configure a match as N:N.

What are collisions?

Collisions are a behavior that Simetrik exhibits when you include tolerance ranges in your match keys or configure a match as N:N.

By default, reconciliations in Simetrik have a 1:1 behavior, that is, each item will have only one counterpart. However, when you include tolerance in one or more keys, the reconciliations will have an N:N behavior, which means that the games will be able to reconcile more than once.

In this case, Simetrik will multiply the records from Source A so that they can reconcile as many times as necessary with Source B (as in the GIF).

This will affect the result of your reconciliation as the number of records you have in Source A will increase, so the final reconciliation percentage will also change.

How to remove collisions?

Step 1 - Create a column of duplicates

For the first source you are going to use in your reconciliation, click Add Column and then Duplicate Column.

Step 2 - Define the criteria

As criteria, you must select the same columns that you will use as crossover keys in your reconciliation and click Create column.

In this case, our criteria will be Date, Amount and Card Number.

Step 3 - Create a column of duplicates in the second source

Follow the same steps to create a duplicates column in the second source that you will use for your reconciliation. In this case, you should not include the match key where you are going to add the tolerance as a duplicate criterion. In the example, this key is Date, so we didn't include it when creating the duplicates column in the second source.
